This year’s Medal
The medal incorporates the adopted blue circle logo of the International Diabetes Federation. The blue circle represents unity, life and the global fight against the disease. Two blood drops are positioned on each side as a traditional symbolism to spread awareness of Type 1 diabetes. Inside a representation of the Rocky Mountains and Denver skyline can be seen surrounding the acronym “T1D” to further represent unity with the city of Denver. Green hills and foliage welcome a path to the city, symbolizing the continuous march forward towards a cure for T1D.
This year’s T-shirt
The T-shirt has original art of an insulin pump walking and caring its tubing. The art is inspired by the cartoon style seen in the 1920’s. The race bib worn on the front of the character displays 1921, this was the year insulin was discovered, saving many lives and making way to the diabetic innovations we have today. The text below reads the phrases “stride for a cure” and “supporting type 1 diabetes research". The words “cure” and “type 1 diabetes” are in blue (the color for type 1 diabetes awareness) to highlight another message… “cure type 1 diabetes.” All patrons will receive this T-shirt to show their support during the 5K Walk/Run for Type 1 Diabetes.
